NT Scarlet's Legacy
B.K.A. Legacy Born August 2, 2000. Our first born foal at Native Trails


Legacy was born on August 2nd, 2000 and became an orphan a few hours after
birth. I have become his 'mom'. Scarlet would NOT let Legacy nurse (due to
pain) and Legacy was not interested in nursing from her. Our vet did get
some of Scarlet's Colustrum milked out and Legacy drank it up. He got a
homemade milk formula a few hours later but got diarrhea.

Legacy got his first vehicle ride the next morning in the back of my good
friend Libby's Expedition. We wrapped a blanket around him and I sat in the
back with him lying in my lap. He was very good. Legacy was started on
Foal Lac milk replacer at 8 ozs every two hours, given an e coli paste (?),
tetanus shot
and his first bottle of Foal Lac.

His IgG tested at greater than 800. My husband picked up a bottle of
Seramune so that we could give him an extra boost to help with his immunity.
Legacy is thriving so far. He is now up to 24-28 plus ozs of Foal Lac.
Licks his salt block, doesn't drink water from the pail yet (we are working
on that) , he gets water a few/several times a day in a bottle. He has also
started attempting to eat and playing with his Omolene 300. He is growing
and filling out steadily.

Legacy is the Penzance HorseSource online! Mascot... The folks on the email list
are all part of his extended family (along with folks that are not on the
Penzance list just too numerous to name!) The list members voted him to be
their mascot and to watch him via pictures as he matures and grows. Most
everyday I send pictures to the list. *G*

Legacy is a joy to have. I get 'horsey kisses all the time. He comes right
up when he is worried or scared of something. If I am low to the ground he
wonders what I am doing there and comes to nuzzle and try to get me up. He
loves to run and romp with the children and I. There is so much I could say
but right now the words just escape me. He is a love and he has a permanent
home here with us.

He has plenty of Aunties both at home and around the US. All pulling for
this little tyke!

Legacy is eligible to be registered as a Half Arabian http://www.iaha.com/
Pinto http://www.pinto.org/ and there is a
possibility of a few other registries such as the Quarab
http://members.aol.com/drdataman/quarab.htm and Half Quarter Horse, no
website known.
