Ponies and horses of all sizes touch a child's heart the way that no other animal can. There is an old saying which states, "The best thing for the inside of a man is the
outside of a horse."
Lonely children, disabled children, acutely and chronically ill children, broken-hearted children, children at risk ... there are more in the world than you or I can even imagine.PENZANCE decided to actively DO something about this ... in July of last summer, 1999, we took in 2 Miniature Shetland Ponies. Their names are Crackers and Cider. Crackers and Cider are representatives of the PERSONAL PONIES LTD. program. They are here at PENZANCE so children of all sizes, ages, disabilities and special needs can have the opportunity to groom, hug, play with and care for them. Crackers is just 2 years old and 28" short; Cider is 3 years old and 36" short. They both have brought such joy to PENZANCE that children and adults alike from the area come to PENZANCE just to see them and hug them. The smiles on young faces are contagious. The smiles on young faces are healing to the heart. The smiles on young faces and the giggles when a tiny, wet tongue licks a hand is music to the soul.
PERSONAL PONIES LTD. is a "Gift Pony" program. If you have or know of someone who has a differently abled child or a chronically ill child whom you believe would benefit from the love of a tiny pony, please contact PENZANCE. We can find a pony who is in need of a young child's heart. There are no strings attached ... just lots and lots of love, care and attention is required. And the requirement that your child has FUN!
